Some January completions :)

These are my entries for the first challenge in the Pretty in Patchwork Holidays Sewalong at Threadbias :)  The original pattern was for pillows - I decided that zipper bags would work better for me ;)

Vinyl zipper bags - using up some ribbon and zippers from stash!  These each measure about 8" x 6" :)

Such a beautiful teal/royal blue - I made this bib to use up the last of that piece of flannel :D

Another "using up scraps" project - this one measures 7.5"w x 8.5"t :)

  1. I love those North Pole zipper bags. Why am I not surprised they ended up that way. Lots of zippy projects completed.

  6. You are a paper piecing machine lately!

Question: I'm trying to make a hand embroidery travel kit for the upcoming vacation. I want to make some zipper thingies out of that clear plastic so that I can see the thread colors. Do you just sew the zipper on the plastic as you would if you were doing an unlined zipper bag? I'm thinking of making a piece with a zipper on each end and sewing it like two pages of a book in the center of a case? Does that make any sense? If so, do you think this would work? Thanks, Sewing Muse!

  8. And I thought the penguins were cute... that polar bear is adorable! Nice use of leftovers in the bib and patchwork pouch.

Are the vinyl pouches for your trip to Florida in March? If not, those would be a great thing to add to what you're making.

  11. Hey there! You must be in that sewing room working like a dog! Hope that's the case rather than another nasty cold. I expect there will be another one of these posts soon with a TON of completed projects that will put me to shame soon;-)

    1. Hi, Miz Possum - you're set up as No Reply and I can't find a blog for you, so I can't reply to your comment. The pattern for the penguins & polar bear is in the book Pretty in Patchwork (by John Q. Adams). There are many penguin patterns for sale on Craftsy and probably on Etsy as well, and I'm sure you could find free patterns online if you searched Pinterest or Google - good luck!
